2010 Ford Explorer XLT — description of factory-standard equipment

Powertrain and chassis
- 4.6L SOHC V8 producing approximately 292 horsepower and 315 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive was standard; part-time four-wheel-drive was available from the factory.
- Conventional body-on-frame construction with independent front suspension and a solid rear axle, designed to handle passenger and light towing duties.
- Four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution. Traction control and stability control systems were included to help maintain control in low-traction conditions.

Exterior

Towing and payload
- V8 power and available factory tow package (if equipped) provide a significantly higher towing capacity than V6 models; factory tow packages typically include a heavy-duty radiator, transmission cooler, wiring harness and a hitch receiver.
